February 14 (Fri.) - 16 (Sun.), 2014 HILTON TOKYO HOTEL President: Masato Nakamura,M.D.,Ph.D.

Greetings

Greetings from the President

In connection with the opening of the Japan Endovascular Treatment Conference (JET) 2014, I would like to extend my greetings.

JET has developed out of the Japan Peripheral Intervention Conference (JPIC), which was launched by Dr. Yoshiaki Yokoi. JPIC, which was Japan’s first live course specializing in endovascular therapy (EVT), achieved a great deal legacy in terms of making EVT familiar to many physicians. While following the policies of JPIC, JET has developed into a conference dealing with the realistic medical setting of EVT across therapeutic disciplines. JET 2014 will mark its 11th anniversary from the opening of the first JPIC.

Over the past decade, there have been great changes in the devices available for EVT and endovascular treatment strategies, and much new evidence has been reported in Japan. In particular, reports on the angiosome concept, the effects of cilostazol and the blush concept can be said to be excellent evidence developed from clinical practice. Moreover, I believe that EVT using carbon dioxide angiography is a treatment strategy unique to Japan, where individual cases are particularly focused on. To provide medical care in line with the current situation in Japan, where there are many dialysis patients and elderly people, it is important to always share evidence and experiences in response to the needs of the medical frontline. Seen in this light, I believe that JET has played an enormous role in EVT.

JET was transformed into a general incorporated association in January 2012, with the aim of conducting a broad range of activities, such as joint activities with companies, provision of an educational training course and cooperation with other medical associations. I would like JET members to not only participate in meetings but also engage in activities proposed by a renewed JET. Let us all develop JET together.

JET 2014 welcomes all people, ranging from enthusiastic experts to cool researchers, as usual. I hope that JET 2014 will provide the opportunity for all participants to engage in deep and honest discussion while offering their different perspectives. We will invite presentations, as was the case last year, and we intend to incorporate new ideas. We always welcome passionate ideas and the opinions of those working in medical settings. JET 2014 will be held at the Hilton Tokyo Hotel from February 14 (Fri) through 16 (Sun), 2014, where the very first meeting of JET was held. We hope that many members will come to the Hilton Tokyo Hotel, which was newly refurbished, to talk about the current and future directions of EVT. I look forward to seeing you all at JET 2014.
